NDSU Men's Track and Field to Host Bison Open Friday and Saturday

FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State men's track and field team will host the Bison Open Friday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Bison Sports Arena.  It will be the team's final competition before hosting the Summit League Championships Feb. 28-March 1.  The Bison Open kicks off Friday at 5:10 p.m. with the men's heptathlon 60 meter dash.  Action continues Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with the long jump.

 

4x400 relay claims first at Husker Invitational

The 4x400 relay team of Jason Duchscherer, Jayce Miller, Weston Leutz and Kevin Jackson placed first at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational with a time of 3:18.22.  Sophomore Travis Fitzke and junior Eric Stroh also put on solid performances.  Fitzke came in second in the mile in 4:17.04.  In the 800 meter special race, Stroh was fourth in 1:51.97, improving on his personal best time ranked seventh all-time at NDSU. 

 

Bison sign four to National Letters of Intent

North Dakota State head men's track and field coach Don Larson announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.  Joining the Bison will be Martin Joyce, a distance runner from Woodbury, Minn.; Nathan Mattson, a sprinter from Hawley, Minn.; Spencer Uetz, a distance runner from West Fargo, N.D.; and Nick Weis, a pole vaulter and sprinter out of Sauk Rapids, Minn.

 

NDSU to host Summit League Championships

North Dakota State is set to host the 2010 Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Bison Sports Arena.  It is the first Division I track championship event to be held at NDSU.  The Bison men will be looking for their third straight indoor championship.

 

Bison lead five events in the Summit League

Sophomore Weston Leutz holds the top spots in two events: the 60 meter hurdles in 7.98 and the heptathlon with 5,331 points.  Senior Scott Johnson leads the league in the weight throw with his mark of 60-6 3/4.    Junior Jeramy Geditz leads the high jump with his school record mark of 7-1 1/4, while junior Eric Stroh leads the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.97.
