Brost Wins Pole Vault at Mt. SAC Relays, Sets New School Record

WALNUT, Calif. ? North Dakota State sophomore Leslie Brost broke her own school record in the pole vault en route to winning the event at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday, April 17.  She cleared 14 feet 1 ¼ inches to break her 2009 record of 13-9 ¼.  Brost is one of ten athletes nationwide to clear 14 feet in the pole vault.  Overall, the Bison posted nine top ten finishes at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Junior Christine Bruins finished third in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:08.01.  Her time is fifth all-time at NDSU.

In the 400 meters, freshman Ashley Tingelstad placed seventh in a time of 55.50, which ranks fifth on the NDSU all-time performance charts.

Sophomore Kristen Killoran posted top 10 finishes in both the long jump and the triple jump.  She was fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 40-2 ¾.  Killoran was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 19-6 ¾.  Senior Brittni Bruenjes was 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 39-2 ½.

In the high jump, redshirt freshman Toni Tollefson tied for fifth after clearing the bar at 5-7.  In the C pole vault, senior Sammantha Kouba also tied for fifth with a mark of11-3 ¾.

At the Bryan Clay Invitational, sophomore Katie Johnson was 10th in the hammer with a mark of 121-11.

 Action at the Mt. SAC Relays will continue tomorrow.  The Bison will also compete at the Beach Invitational Saturday.
