NDSU Women's Track and Field Inks Two to National Letters of Intent

FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State head women's track and field coach Ryun Godfrey has announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.

Ashlynn Simon of Regina, Saskatchewan and Caitlin Mack of Watertown, S.D. have both signed NLIs and will bring the total number of incoming freshmen to nine.  Maddie McClellan, Katie Dockter, Heidi Peterson, Jamie Drevlow, Abby Goraczkowski, Emily Lesser and Kiley Severson all signed letters of intent earlier in the year.

“We are very excited to have Ashlynn and Caitlin join the Bison family next year,” said Godfrey.  “They are both excellent students and very accomplished athletes.  They will be part of a recruiting class that will help NDSU track and field continue a winning tradition.”

Simon is a middle-distance runner out of Harvest City Christian Academy.  She is ranked in the top five of Canada's junior division (17-18 years old) in three events.  Her time of 1:33.97 in the 600 meters is ranked second, while her 400 meter personal best of 57.86 is fourth.  She is also fifth in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:13.90.  Simon plans to major in either exercise science or management communications.

Mack is a pole vaulter out of Watertown High School.  Her personal best mark of 11 feet 7 inches is currently one of the top marks in South Dakota.  She is also a standout gymnast and was the 2010 South Dakota state champion in the all-around, balance beam, uneven bars and vault.  Watertown also claimed the team title in both 2009 and 2010.  Mack has a 4.0 GPA and is planning to major in exercise science.
