17 Bison Women Claim All-Summit League Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. - The North Dakota State women's track and field team had 17 athletes earn All-Summit League honors as announced by the league today.  The top three athletes in each event are named to the all-league team.

Junior Whitney Carlson picks up all-league honors after leading four events.  She holds the top spot in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.80 and the 400 hurdles in 1:00.02.  Her school record mark of 21-1 1/2 leads the long jump.  Carlson is also first in the heptathlon with a score of 5,343 points.  She is also third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.53.

Sophomore Ashley Tingelstad earned all-league honors in three events.  She is first in the 100 meters with a time of 11.86 and the 200 meters in 24.45.  Her 400 time of 55.50 is ranked third.  She is also part of the top 4x400 relay in the league.

Juniors Christine Bruins and Brittany Gigstead hold the top two spots, respectively, in the 800 meters.  Bruins' time is 2:07.42 and Gigstead's is 2:07.86.  Gigstead is also third in the 1,500 after posting a time of 4:35.60.

Freshman Lauren Rice leads the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:04.19 and is third in the 5,000 meters in 17:16.85.

Redshirt freshman Toni Tollefson is first in the high jump with a school record mark of 5-11 ½.  In the pole vault, sophomore Leslie Brost leads the way after clearing a school record height of 14-1 ¼.  Sophomore Amy Marquardt also earned all-league honors in the pole vault with a third place mark of 12-2.

Junior Amy Jo Reuter is third in the steeplechase with a time of 10:53.19.

Senior Heather Zander picks up all-league honors after ranking third in the 100 hurdles in 14.05 and second in the heptathlon with a score of 5,203 points.  She is also part of the third place 4x100 relay and the league-leading 4x400 relay.

Fellow senior Devon Wentz is second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:00.56 and is on the first place 4x400 relay team.

Sophomore Kristen Killoran is second in both the long jump (20-1 ½) and the triple jump (40-2 ¾), while senior Brittni Bruenjes is third in the triple jump with a mark of 39-5 ¼ and a member of the third place 4x100 relay.

In the javelin, senior Courtney Carpenter picks up all-league honors with the third-ranking throw of 131-10.

Sophomore Brittany Page is third in the 100 meters with a time of 11.90 and also a member of the 4x100 relay.

Junior Jennifer Nagberi earns all-league honors as part of the 4x100 relay, while fellow junior Emily Black makes the all-league squad as a member of the 4x400 relay.

The Bison will aim for their third straight Summit League title beginning Thursday, May 13.
