Leverington Leads Bison Men at NDSU Open

FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State junior Tyler Leverington placed fourth to lead the men's cross country team to a first place finish at the NDSU Open Friday night.  Leverington finished the 5,800 meter course in 18 minutes 35.78 seconds.  Concordia's Tom Sederquist took first in 18:21.47.

The Bison finished with 33 points, beating out the NDSU Alumni by six points.  Concordia was third with 60 points.

Overall, five Bison placed in the top ten.  Junior Jake Henderson came in fifth in 18:38.38, while fellow junior Travis Fitzke was seventh in 18:53.93.  Redshirt freshman Moses Heppner placed eighth in 19:14.41 and redshirt freshman Alec Espeland was 10th in 19:16.87.

Junior Andrew Fillmore finished 12th in 19:20.04.  Juniors Andy Wendroth, Justin Schrepel and senior Tom Wagner claimed 14th through 16th, respectively.

Redshirt freshman Nathan Thooft was 19th in a time of 19:49.03.  Fellow redshirt freshmen John Holt was 21st and Alex Barney was 23rd to round out the Bison contingent in 21st

The Bison next travel to Falcon Heights, Minn. to compete in the Oz Memorial Run on Friday, Sept. 10.
