FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - The North Dakota State men's cross country team placed third of five teams at the six-kilometer Oz Memorial Run on Friday, Sept. 10. The Bison tallied 74 points and Drake won the meet title with 39 points.
Junior Tyler Leverington led the team with a 10th place finish and posted a time of 19:30.53. It is the second straight race he has been the top finisher for the Bison.
Juniors Travis Fitzke and Jake Henderson also placed in the top 20. Fitzke finished 13th in 19:38.95 and Henderson was 15th in 19:40.34.
Redshirt freshman Alec Espeland came in 26th in 20:05.18 and freshman Marty Joyce was right behind him in 20:06.84 to finish 27th. Redshirt freshman Moses Heppner covered the course in 20:25.36 to place 38th. Juniors Justin Schrepel and Andy Wendroth came in 42nd and 43rd, respectively. Schrepel's time was 20:37.70 and Wendroth's was 20:39.18.
Sophomore Dan Merritt came in 47th in 20:50.60. Redshirt freshman Nathan Thooft placed 51st in 20:57.96 and senior Tom Wagner was just behind him in 52nd with a time of 20:59.23.
Redshirt freshman John Holt posted a time of 21:06.99 and fellow redshirt freshman Alex Barney rounded out the Bison contingent with a 58th place finish in 21:12.54.
The Bison are back in action Oct. 2 at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.
