Henderson Paces Bison Men at Wisconsin adidas Invitational

VERONA, Wis. - North Dakota State junior Jake Henderson finished 110th at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational to lead the team.  The Bison placed 19th of 21 teams with 597 points in the eight-kilometer race.  No. 25 Indiana claimed the team title with 43 points.

 

“This was a really strong effort from the men today,” said head coach Ryun Godfrey. “Our average time is one of the lowest averages we have had.”

 

In the team's first 8k race of the season, Henderson posted a time of 25:07.9, while fellow junior Travis Fitzke came in 131st in 25:25.0.  Junior Tyler Leverington ran the course in 25:29.6 to finish 138th.

 

Redshirt freshmen Alec Espeland and Moses Heppner placed 149th and 181st, respectively.  Espeland notched a time of 25:41 and Heppner finished in 26:28.7.

 

Freshman Marty Joyce came in three spots behind Heppner in 184th with a time of 26:38.7.  Sophomore Dan Merritt placed 190th in 26:57.9.  Juniors Andy Wendroth and Andy Fillmore finished two spots apart in 196th and 198th, respectively.  Wendroth covered the course in 27:10.1 and Fillmore's time was 27:14.2.

 

Junior Justin Schrepel was 201st in 27:20.6 and senior Tom Wagner came in 202nd in 27:38.7 to round out the Bison contingent.

 

NDSU will have a week off before competing at the Jim Drews Invitational Oct. 16 in West Salem, Wis.
