VERONA, Wis. - North Dakota State freshman Heidi Peterson ran a personal best time of 21.39.1 to lead the Bison at the six-kilometer Wisconsin adidas Invitational Saturday, Oct. 2. NDSU placed 19th out of the 20 teams competing with 503 points. No. 11 Syracuse won the meet with 89 points.
Nine of the 10 Bison athletes competing posted season-best 6k times, including the top five Bison finishers. Peterson placed 69th overall and senior Amy Jo Thorne came in 100th in 22:10.0. Freshman Maddie McClellan was 126th in 22:34.3, while junior Jordan Krahn finished right behind McClellan in 127th in a time of 22:34.9.
“It was a really great effort today,” said head coach Ryun Godfrey. “Our average time is one of the lowest averages we have ever had. I'm looking forward to the next few weeks as we prepare for the Summit League Championships.”
Senior Brittany Schanandore posted a time of 22:49.9 to place 146th. Fellow senior Christine Schmaltz placed 154th in 22.57.6, a season-best. Sophomore Faith Kruchowski finished 168th with a season-best time of 23.17.5.
Sophomore Hannah McAllister completed the race in 23:29.2 to finish 174th. Freshman Kelly Pechous was 188th in 23.55.9. Senior Marissa Dahlquist rounded out the Bison finishers with a time of 24.46 to finish 199th.
