NDSU Track and Field Names Hanenberger Assistant Coach

FARGO, N.D. ? The North Dakota State track and field programs have announced the addition of Eric Hanenberger to the staff as an assistant coach.  He will work primarily with the jumps and hurdles.

Hanenberger comes to Fargo after spending the last six years with Northern Iowa.  He has been an assistant coach with the Panthers for two years, working with the sprints, relays, hurdles, jumps and multi-events.  He also served as the program's recruiting coordinator and meet manager for all college and high school meets held at UNI.

From 2004-2008, Hanenberger was a volunteer assistant for Northern Iowa and worked primarily with the sprints, relays and jumps.  He also coordinated travel to away meets.  In addition to his duties with the track team, Hanenberger was a graduate assistant with the Northern Iowa strength and conditioning program for two years.  He also worked with Waterloo West High School as the director of athlete development, implementing a strength and conditioning program for student-athletes.

The Panthers won five indoor men's Missouri Valley Conference titles, four outdoor men's titles, one women's indoor and one women's outdoor title in Hanenberger's time with the team.  UNI also tallied two top 10 finishes at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, finishing ninth in 2007 and 2008.

Before his tenure in Cedar Falls, Hanenberger served as an assistant sprint coach at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, Minnesota for two years.

Hanenberger graduated from Northern Iowa in December of 2004 with degrees in marketing and non-teaching exercise science.  He received his master's degree in exercise science from Northern Iowa in 2007.
