Thorne, Bison Win Tori Neubauer Invitational Titles

WEST SALEM, Wis. ? North Dakota State senior Amy Jo Thorne won the Tori Neubauer Invitational title to lead the Bison to a first place team finish.  It was Thorne's second title of the season as she also won the NDSU Open in early September.  The Bison tallied 88 points to win the meet, 25 points ahead of second place Minnesota.

 

Thorne finished the six-kilometer race in 21:34.0, a pace of 5:47 per mile.  Four other Bison also placed in the top 30 out of 450 athletes.  Freshmen Maddie McClellan and Heidi Peterson place 12th and 13th, respectively.  McClellan posted a time of 22:06.3 and Peterson's time was 22:07.5.  Sophomore Faith Kruchowski was 26th in 22:24.0 and junior Jordan Krahn placed 30th in 22.26.6.

 

Senior Brittany Schanandore was 51st in 22:51.8, while sophomore Hannah McAllister placed 56th in 22:57.0.  Senior Christine Schmaltz was just behind McAllister in 58th, posting a time of 22:59.3.  Senior Marissa Dahlquist finished 86th in 23:23.5 and freshman Niki Huelsman was 190th in 24:37.4.  Sophomore Kathyrn Houle placed 195th in 24:40.9.

 

The Bison now have a week off before the Summit League Championships Presented by American Airlines in Carmel, Ind. Saturday, Oct. 30.
