FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's track and field team will host the Bison Classic on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Bison Sports Arena. Field events begin at 12 p.m. and running events start at 1 p.m. The Bison will be competing against six teams – Jamestown, Northern State, Minnesota State Moorhead, Manitoba, Minot State and Mary.
Carlson named Summit League athlete of the week
Senior Whitney Carlson was named Summit League athlete of the week on Dec. 7 for her winning performance in the pentathlon at the Holiday Invitational. Carlson set a new school record in the pentathlon at the Holiday Invitational on Dec. 4. Her score of 3,954 points eclipses the record of 3,810 points she set last season. She currently leads the nation in the event. Carlson also holds the No. 1 spot in the country in the long jump with a mark of 20-4 1/2.
Carlson leads Bison at Holiday Invitational
Whitney Carlson's school record in the pentathlon led a day of top ten marks for the Bison women at the season-opening Holiday Invitational on Dec. 4. Junior Kristen Killoran finished second in her first pentathlon and her score of 3,602 points is ranked fourth on the NDSU career charts. Redshirt freshman Antoinette Goodman made waves in her first meet as her time of 7.74 in the 60 meters is seventh all-time and her winning 200 meters time of 25.11 is eighth all-time. Senior Jennifer Nagberi also moved up to fifth in the top 10 in the 60 meters with a time of 7.73.
NDSU tabbed to win Summit title
The North Dakota State women's track and field team was picked to win their fourth straight Summit League title in a vote of the league's head coaches. The Bison led the voting with all seven possible first place votes and 49 points. Southern Utah was picked to finished second with 38 points and South Dakota State and Oral Roberts were third (37) and fourth (36), respectively.
