Men's Track and Field Set for Bison Open Friday and Saturday

FARGO, N.D. ? The North Dakota State men's track and field team will play host to the Bison Open on Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Bison Sports Arena.  The first four events of the heptathlon will be held Friday beginning at 3:10 p.m.  The weight throw will also be held Friday at 4 p.m. Saturday's events begin with the final three heptathlon events at 11 a.m.  Running events start at 12:30 p.m.

 

Five Bison crack all-time top 10 at Bill Bergan Invitational

Matt Tetzlaff won the 60 meter hurdles for the third time this season at the Bill Bergan Invitational in Ames, Iowa on Saturday, Jan. 29 to lead the Bison to a third place finish.  Kevin Jackson's 200 meter time of 21.81 is fifth all-time at NDSU, while Jason Duchscherer's time of 48.59 in the 400 meters is seventh all-time. Travis Fitzke's time of 8:22.29 in the 3,000 meters is sixth all-time. In the 800 meters, Moses Heppner posted a time of 1:52.54 to rank 10th in NDSU history.  In the weight throw, Casey Orgon's personal best mark of 57-5 is fifth all-time.

Junior Travis Fitzke cracked the school's all-time top 10 in the 3,000 meters at the Bill Bergan Invitational, making it the third straight week that he had tallied a top 10 mark.  At the Bison Classic, he won the 1,000 meters in 2:28.78, which is ninth in NDSU history.  Fitzke ran the mile at the Jack Johnson Classic where he clocked in at 4:10.47, which is eighth all-time.

 

NDSU men tabbed to win fourth straight league title

The North Dakota State men's track and field team was unanimously selected as the 2010-11 Summit League indoor preseason favorite in vote of all seven of the league's head coaches.  NDSU topped the poll with all six possible first place votes and 36 points.  Southern Utah was second with 28 points and South Dakota State was third with 25 points.  Oral Roberts was tabbed to finish fourth. UMKC, Western Illinois and Oakland rounded out the poll.

 

NDSU to host Summit League Championships

For the second year in a row, the Bison Sports Arena will be the home of the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships.  The league meet is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 27 and Monday, Feb. 28. Last season, the Bison claimed their third straight league title in the friendly confines of the BSA.

 

Larson returns for 32nd year

NDSU head men's track and field coach Don Larson is back for his 32nd season with the program.  He has led the Bison to three Summit League indoor titles and two league outdoor titles.  Larson has earned both league outdoor and indoor coach of the year honors twice.
