Bison Men Compete at Vance Butler Invitational

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. ? The North Dakota State men's track and field team competed at the Vance Butler Invitational Saturday, April 2.  The Bison men posted nine top eight finishes.

 

The Bison put on a strong showing in the throws.  In the hammer throw, senior Logan Hollenkamp paced three top eight finishers.  Hollenkamp was fifth with a throw of 180 feet 10 inches.  Sophomore Casey Orgon took fifth with a mark of 170-3.  Senior Sam Soholt placed eighth with a toss of 169-1.

 

Soholt also finished sixth in the discus with a mark of 141-7.  In the javelin, freshman Landin Rognlin placed sixth with a throw of 159-11.

 

Senior Tom Wagner finished seventh in the steeplechase, coming in with a time of 9:39.88.  Freshman Nate Mattson took eighth in the 100 meters with a time of 11.36.

 

In the long jump, junior Ryan Jenson notched a mark of 20-10 ½ to take fifth.  Sophomore Keith Bennett placed fifth in the pole vault with a leap of 15-1 ½.

 

The Bison are back in action next weekend at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.  A group of athletes will also compete in the Texas Relays.
