John Colizzi Rebound From Injury To Win State Title

Benedictine's John Colizzi is back and it looks like better than ever. This past Saturday he took home the VISAA State Title in the long jump and finished third in the triple jump.

The junior from Richmond is now a two-time state champion. He won the indoor triple jump last year and long jump this year. He jumped 22-3.75 to win this weekend (on a tie-breaker) in the long and jump 45-8.5 in the triple which placed him third. That mark moves him up to VA #9 overall this season and VA #1 for juniors. Nationally he ranks US #14 amongst juniors.

This win was special for him not only because it was his first long jump win but also because he is coming back from an injury suffered at outdoor states a year ago. He looks to be back at 100% and ready to finally compete at outdoor states as well.

He also ran the 300 (finished 10th) and ran the anchor leg for Benedictine's 4x2 which finished 6th.
