NXN By The Numbers: A Closer Look

MileSplit decided to take a closer look at the important numbers from Nike Cross Nationals on Saturday in Portland, Oregon. 


16 years. Saturday marked the 16th installment of Nike Cross Nationals. Since 2004, it's morphed into one of the premier national championship races in American high school cross country. 

11 years. Since 2009, NXN has included a format with individual qualifiers. 

2 years. In 2018, NXN adjusted its format once more, including at-large individuals picked to race at the national championship. These athletes do not have to run at a Nike-based regional. 

6 years. NXN moved to Glendoveer Golf Course in 2014 after 10 years at Portland Meadows.

1. North Rockland's (NY) Katelyn Tuohy is now the only athlete to win Nike Cross Nationals three times overall and three straight times. Both marks might last, too. 

25. 14:52.3 seconds. The new meet and course record at Glendoveer by Newbury Park's Nico Young. 

2. The number of runners all-time under 15 minutes on Glendoveer's course: Liam Anderson (2018 winner), Young. 

4. The number of boys All-Americans from Colorado, the most by any state in the boys race at NXN. Also the number of girls All-Americans from New York, the most by any state in the girls race.
