Greg Wilson Classic, KS

Highlights

  • Alli Cash (Shawnee Mission West) won the girls 4k race with a blazing 13:46.70 to win by 2 minutes! The time puts her clearly at the top of the conversation regarding top female harriers this season.  St. Thomas Aquinas won the team title with ease with 35 points.  
  • Simon Belete (Blue Springs) won the boys race with a time of 15:53.70.  Blue Springs took the team title with 50 points behind a 1-2 finish.

Coverage

Highlights

  • Southlake Carroll looked absolutely dominate in the boys 5A race, taking the top-3 places overall and 5 of the top-9 overall, winning with a score of 19 points.  Joe Sansone won the race in 15:14.80, 15 seconds up on teammate Connor Hendrickson in 15:30.30.  The squad averaged 15:36 for its 1-5 runners.  
  • The Southlake Carroll girls also won with 52 points in the 5A race.  Natalie Rathjen (Highland Park) won the individual title with a time of 17:59 while Safiya Belbina (Flower Mound) took 2nd in 18:22.10.  

 

Utah County Cross Country Invitational, UT

Highlights

  • Ben Saarel (Park City) won the JR/SR race with a time of 14:58.91 over the 3-mile layout with Jacob Heslington just behind in 2nd in 14:59.34.  
  • Summer Harper (Orem) won the JR/SR girls race with a time of 17:44.18, 40 seconds up on 2nd place. 

 

KVAC Meet, ME

Highlights

  • Bethanie Brown (Waterville) absolutely dominated the 3-mile layout here, winning with a time of 17:41.60, 2:22 over the nearest competitor!  She would have also been 6th in the boys race, making her one to watch this XC season!

 

Wickham Park Jamboree, FL

Highlights

  • Julie Wollrath (Holy Trinity Academy) won the girls race in 18:30 over Sarah Day (West Shore), 2nd in 18:37.

 

Fenton Early Bird Invitational, IL

Highlights

  • Kaylee Flanagan (Lake Park) won by nearly a minute on the 3-mile layout, scoring a 16:56 clocking.  Lake Park also took the team race with 47 points.  

 

St. Charles East Leavey Invitational, IL

Highlights

  • Caleb Beck (Oswego) won the varsity boys 3 mile race with a time of 14:36.10 over Joe Singleton (Glenbard South), 2nd in 14:41.70.  
  • Emma Fisher (York) won the girls race in 17:09.40.

 

Hinsdale South Hornet Invitational, IL

Highlights

  • Madeline Perez (Glenbard West) won the girls 3 mile race with a solid time of 16:59.40, 15 seconds up on Courtney Ackerman (New Trier), 17:13.50.  New Trier suffered an upset to Glenbard West 51-55 in team scoring.  

 

Cheyenne Mountain Stampede, CO

Coverage

Highlights

  • Jordyn Colter (Cherry Creek) won the 5A girls race with a time of 19:17.6, 32 seconds up on 2nd place.  Monarch won the team race over Fort Collins 91 to 100.  

 

UGA Bulldog Invitational, GA

Highlights

  • Foot Locker finalist Josh Brickell (Peachtree Ridge) won the boys varsity race with a swift 14:53.77 over the 3 mile layout.  Peachtree Ridge won the boys team title with a tight contest over Marist 68-69.
  • Katherine Yost (Norcross) won the girls 3 mile race with a time of 17:32.13.  

 

Lobo Cross Country Invitational, NM

Coverage

Highlights

  • Luis Martinez (Sue Cleveland) won the boys individual title with a winning time of 16:01.70 and a gap of 23 seconds, but the team race was more of a surprise. Los Alamos boys pulled off an upset with a dominating 38 to 77 victory over Cleveland in the team race.  
  • In the girls race Julie Gianinni (St. Pius X) won the girls race by 18 seconds with a time of 19:37.  Los Alamos also took this race with a score of 83 to 87 over St. Pius, bolstered by an impressive 1-5 split of 6 seconds!

 

The Woodlands Friday Night Lights, TX

Highlights

  • Bradley Dohner (Klein Oak) won the 2.5 mile Varsity A race with a time of 12:33.98.  Michael Lindberg (Kingwood Park) was 2nd in 12:36.43.  The Woodlands overcame the challenge of a tight Cedar Park pack to win the team race 38 to 41.  
  • Maddie McLellan (The Woodlands) led a solid team charge to win the 2 mile Varsity A race with a time of 11:17.47.  The Woodlands won the team title in dominating fashion, scoring just 24 points.

 

Sole Sports CC Festival, AZ

Coverage

Highlights

  • US#3 Bernie Montoya (Cibola) won the boys race with a time of 14:53.1 over the 3 mile race.  
  • Sarah Fakler (Xavier College Prep) won the girls race with a time of 17:55.3.  Xavier College Prep won the team title with just 36 points scored.  

 

Rusty Bucket Invitational, ND

Highlights

  • US#2 Jake Leingang (Bismarck ND) won by a sizable margin over teammate Preston Lerew 15:59 to 16:25.  Bismarck won the team title with 18 points and look good for early season action.  

 

Northville Mustang Invitational, MI

Highlights

  • US#1 Erin Finn (West Bloomfield MI) won the girls JR/SR race with a time of 17:39, over 1:20 faster than 2nd place.  

 

Terre Haute State Preview, IN

Highlights

  • US#11 Carmel won earlier in the week but dominate here as well despite sitting out Kelsey Welch.  Haley Harris won overall with a time of 18:42.80 while Gina Genco was 2nd in 18:49.50.  Carmel won with 32 points.  Genco did not run earlier in the week, so we have yet to see the full-strength Carmel squad take to the trails.  
  • On the boys side Jacob Thomson (KY) won the varsity race with a time of 15:39.  Jackson Bertoli (Terre Haute South) was 2nd in 15:44.50.  

 

Harrison Invitational, IN

Highlights

  • Carmel boys won with a score of 61 over Lawrence North with 81 points.  Kyle Burks (Bloomington South) won the race with a time of 15:44.41.  
  • On the girls side Bobbie Burgess (West Lafayette) won convincingly with a time of 17:58.64.  West Lafayette also dominated on the team side with just 31 points scored for the win.  

 

Skyview Invitational, AK

Coverage

Highlights

  • Soph Allie Ostrander (Kenai Central) has been taking the state by storm, winning the girls varsity race with a blazing 17:37.60, 1:15 up on 2nd place.  Earlier in August she won by a similar margin at the Bartlett Invitational with a time of 17:58.

 

Hamilton County Invitational, IN

Highlights

  • Kelcy Welch led the Carmel girls to victory with a winning time of 18:38.7.  Teammate Haley Harris was 2nd in 18:42.2.  US#11 Carmel won with 26 points with 6 runners in the top-12 overall.  
  • Troy Reeder (Hamilton Southeastern) won the boys varsity race with a time of 15:36.7.  Carmel boys won on depth with 41 points after packing 6 runners in the 6-12 spots overall.  

 

Oelwein Invitational, IA

Highlights

  • Anna Holdiman (Waverly-Shell Rock) won the girls 4k race with a blazing 13:22 clocking, over 90 seconds ahead of 2nd place to put herself on the national scene!

 

John Sharp Viking Invitational, PA

Coverage

Highlights

  • Teammates Connor Harriman and Sam Webb dominated with boys varsity race with times of 15:45 and 15:54 for a 1-2 finish.  Pennsbury also took the team title with 36 points.

  • Marissa Sheva won the girls varsity race with a clocking of 18:25 in a photo finish with Methacton's Kara Steinke, 2nd also in 18:25.  Central Bucks East won the team title with 64 points.
