Men’s Track & Field Adds Two Signees

FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State head men's track & field coach Don Larson announced the addition of two student-athletes to the 2013 signing class for the Bison on Thursday, July 18. Matthew Neururer (Motley, Minn./Pillager HS) and Brady Brockel (Mobridge, S.D./Sunshine Bible Academy) have both signed National Letters of Intent to continue their education and compete at NDSU.

The additions of Neururer and Brockel bring the total number of Bison men's track & field signees in 2013 to 10.

Neururer, the Gatorade Minnesota Track & Field Athlete of the Year, won Class A state titles in the 800 meters (1:55) and high jump (6-8) as a senior in 2013, as well as running on Pillager's 4x400m relay teams at the state championships in 2011 and 2012. He holds school records in the 800m, 1600m, 4x400m relay, 4x800m relay and high jump.

In cross country, Neururer was an all-conference performer who earned a 47th-place finish at the Minnesota state championships. He also played basketball throughout his high school career and was named the Fine Arts Student of the Year.

Brockel won South Dakota Class B state titles in the 400m and 800m as a senior in 2013 and was named the Class B MVP of the state meet. In 2012, he ran on relay teams that won conference, region and state championships in the 4x400 and 4x800, and he placed at the state meet in both relays again in 2013.

Brockel set the Sunshine Bible Academy school record in the 400m at 49.37 and has also run 1:58 in the 800m. He earned all-conference honorable mention honors in football playing wide receiver and quarterback and was a second-team all-conference pick as his team's leading scorer in basketball.

The North Dakota State men's track & field team has won four consecutive Summit League outdoor titles and four of the last six Summit League indoor titles.
