Leutz Reaches NCAA Provisional Mark at Bison Holiday Heptathlon

FARGO, N.D. ? North Dakota State sophomore Weston Leutz reached an NCAA provisional qualifying mark with 5,331 points at the Bison Holiday Heptathlon this weekend.

 

Leutz finished second in the event, while junior Ted Rud was third with 5,254 points.  Leutz and Rud are now second and third all-time at NDSU in the heptathlon.

 

Redshirt freshman Ryan Jenson was fifth with 4,389 points and freshman Andy Lillejord competed unattached and was sixth with 4,367 points.

 

Leutz won both the 60 meters (7.00) and the 60 meter hurdles (8.30).  He also finished third in four events - the long jump (22-5 3/4 feet), the shot put (39-9 ¾), the high jump (6-4) and the pole vault (14-9).

 

After winter break, the Bison will host the NDSU Invitational Sunday, Jan. 17 at the Bison Sports Arena.
