ELMHURST, Ill. - North Dakota State junior Whitney Carlson was named the Summit League Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week after winning the Bison Holiday Pentathlon this weekend.

Carlson finished with 3,568 points and won three of the five events.  She won the 60 meter hurdles in 8.57, the long jump with a mark of 19-2 1/2, and the 800 meters in 2:32.24.

This is Carlson's third career athlete of the week honor.  The Buchanan native was also the MVP of last year's indoor and outdoor league championships.

The indoor season continues Jan. 17 when the Bison host the NDSU Invitational at the Bison Sports Arena.
