Bison Women Set to Take On Some of Nation's Best at Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational

FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State women's track and field team travels to Lincoln, Neb. for the 35th Annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational Feb. 5-6.  Action begins Friday with the women's weight throw at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 12 p.m. with the women's shot put.  Four top 25 teams will be competing at the meet: No. 13 Nebraska, No. 15 Oklahoma, No. 16 Arizona and No. 24 UTEP.

Bison lead Summit League in seven events

NDSU leads the league in seven of 17 events this season.  Junior Whitney Carlson leads three events: the 60 meter hurdles in 8.61, the long jump in 19-10 1/4 and the pentathlon with 3,697 points.  Freshman Deborah John leads the 60 meters with a time of 7.65, while junior Christine Bruins leads the 800 meters in 2:12.21.  Sophomore Kristen Killoran leads the triple jump with a mark of 39-4 and redshirt freshman Toni Tollefson holds the top spot in the high jump with a mark of 5-8 3/4.

 

Sprinters lead the way at Bill Bergan Invitational

North Dakota State freshman Deborah John won the 60 meter dash at the Bill Bergan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 30 to lead the Bison to a fourth place finish.  Her time of 7.65 is ranked second all-time at NDSU.  Sophomore Brittany Page posted two top six finishes in the 60 meters and the 200 meters.  Her time of 7.76 in the 60 meter preliminaries is tied for seventh all-time at NDSU.  She finished fourth in the final.  In the 200 meters, Page came in third in a time of 25.25, ranking ninth all-time.

 

Bison ink six to National Letters of Intent

North Dakota State head women's track and field coach Ryun Godfrey has announced the signing of six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Feb. 3.  Joining the Bison are Katie Dockter, a long and triple jumper from Fargo, N.D.; Heidi Peterson, a distance runner from Sartell, Minn.; Jamie Drevlow, a thrower from Gwinner, N.D.; Abby Goraczkowski, a thrower from Litchfield, Minn.; Emily Lesser, a thrower from Maple Grove, Minn. and Kiley Severson, a thrower from Hayfield, Minn.

 

Carlson earns second athlete of the week award

After winning the pentathlon at the Jack Johnson Classic on Jan. 23, junior Whitney Carlson snagged her second Summit League Athlete of the Week award.  Carlson claimed the pentathlon title with 3,697 points.  She won the 800 meters, 60 meter hurdles and long jump portions of the event.  In the long jump, she reached a personal best mark of 19-10 1/4, which is ranked second all-time at NDSU.  Carlson currently leads the Summit League in the long jump, 60 meter hurdles and pentathlon.

 

Hermanson places fourth for Team USA in Scotland

Former North Dakota State All-American track athlete Laura (Hermanson) Januszewski finished fourth in the 800 meters at the Aviva International Match on Jan. 30.  She posted a time of 2:07.65.  Great Britain's Jenny Meadows won the event in 2:02.53.  The Aviva International Match features one athlete in each event from the United States, Great Britain, Sweden, Germany and a Commonwealth Select team.
