LINCOLN, Neb. ? The North Dakota State men's 4x400 relay claimed first place at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, while sophomore Travis Fitzke posted a runner-up finish in the mile. Seven Bison placed in the top eight on Saturday.
The 4x400 relay team of Jason Duchscherer, Jayce Miller, Weston Leutz and Kevin Jackson won with a time of 3:18.22, beating out second place Wyoming by just over six-tenths of a second. Fitzke finished second in the mile with a time of 4:17.04.
In the 800 meter special race, junior Eric Stroh was fourth in 1:51.97, improving on his personal best time ranked seventh all-time at NDSU. Freshman Moses Heppner was seventh in the same race in 1:52.86. In the other 800 meter race, sophomore Andy Wendroth was seventh in 1:55.77.
After advancing to the 60 meter final, sophomore Kevin Jackson finished seventh in 6.93.
Junior Jeramy Geditz tied for fifth in the high jump with a mark of 6-8 ¾.
NDSU returns to Fargo for the Bison Open Feb. 12 and 13. The women's pentathlon and men's heptathlon will start at 5 p.m. Friday. Saturday's action will begin at 3 p.m.
