Brost Earns Summit League Athlete of the Week Award

ELMHURST, Ill. - North Dakota State sophomore Leslie Brost has been named the Summit League Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week after setting a new school record in the pole vault at the Parents Day Open over the weekend.  The Watertown, S.D. native also improved her NCAA provisional mark.

Brost won the pole vault Saturday, clearing 13 feet 10 inches and breaking her own 2009 record of 13-09 1/4.  She defeated a field that included Minnesota All-American Alicia Rue and Katelin Rains, the reigning Division II national champion.

She currently leads the Summit League and is ranked No. 13 in the country in the pole vault.  This is her first athlete of the week honor this season.

Brost and the rest of the women's track and field team will host the Summit League Championships Sunday, Feb. 28 and Monday, March 1.  The Bison will be aiming for their third straight league indoor title.
