Nine Bison Women Claim All-Summit League Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. ? Nine North Dakota State women's track and field athletes have been named to the All-Summit League team.  The top three athletes in each event earn all-league honors.  Oral Roberts and Southern Utah join NDSU with nine all-league selections.

Junior Whitney Carlson earns all-league honors after leading four events.  She holds the top spot in the 200 and the 60 meter hurdles and also leads the long jump and pentathlon with NCAA provisional marks.  Junior Christine Bruins is tops in the 800, while sophomore Leslie Brost is No. 1 in the pole vault.  Redshirt freshman Toni Tollefson leads the high jump and freshman Deborah John is first in the 60 meters.

Senior Heather Zander garnered all-league honors after ranking third in the 60 meter hurdles and second in the pentathlon.    Sophomore Kristen Killoran is second in both the long jump and triple jump.

Senior Devon Wentz and sophomore Brittany Page join Carlson and John as all-league selections as part of the 4x400 relay.

The Bison host the Summit League Championships Sunday, Feb. 28 and Monday, March 1.  The women's pentathlon begins Sunday at 9:30 a.m., while the field and running events start at 3 p.m.  On Monday, field events begin at 11 a.m. and running events start at noon. NDSU will be aiming for its third straight indoor title.
