Five NDSU Men Travel to Iowa for Last Chance Qualifier

FARGO, N.D. - Five members of the North Dakota State men's track and field team will compete at the Last Chance Qualifier in Ames, Iowa on Saturday, March 6.  The athletes will be looking to reach automatic qualifying marks for the NCAA Championships.  Junior Eric Stroh and freshman Moses Heppner will run the 800 meters, while sophomore Kevin Jackson will compete in the 400 meters.  Sophomore Travis Fitzke will run the mile and junior Jeramy Geditz will compete in the high jump.

Three in a row: Bison win Summit League Indoor title

NDSU claimed its third straight league title with 171.5 points on Monday, March 1.  Four Bison won individual titles. Junior Jeramy Geditz won his third consecutive high jump title with a mark of 6-10 1/4.  Fellow junior Ted Rud won the heptathlon with 5,205 points and junior Eric Stroh won the 800 meters in 1:53.20.  Sophomore Kevin Jackson claimed the 200 title in 22.07.  Oral Roberts was second with 113 points.

 

Rud, Larson win league awards

Junior Ted Rud was named the Championship Field MVP after winning the heptathlon and placing in four other events.  Rud won the heptathlon with 5,205 points.  He also finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 45-3 3/4, seventh in the long jump with a mark of 22-6 1/4 and seventh in the pole vault, clearing 14-7 1/4.  He was also eighth in the high jump with a mark of 6-4 1/4.  Head coach Don Larson was named the Coach of the Year for the second straight year.

 

Geditz, Leutz ranked in national top 25

On the strength of their NCAA provisional marks, junior Jeramy Geditz and sophomore Weston Leutz are both ranked nationally in the top 25.  Geditz is tied for 21st in the high jump with a mark of 7-1 1/2.  Three athletes are tied for first, clearing 7-4 1/4.  Leutz is No. 21 in the heptathlon with 5,496 points.  Oregon's Ashton Eaton holds the top spot with 6,256 points.
