Bison Women Win Six Titles at Baldy Castillo Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. ? The North Dakota State women's track and field team claimed six titles at the Baldy Castillo Invitational on Saturday, March 20 to open the outdoor season.

Sophomore Leslie Brost won the pole vault, clearing 13-7 ¾.  Sophomore Amy Marquardt was third with a personal best mark of 12-2, which ranks fifth all-time at NDSU.

Senior Courtney Carpenter won the javelin with a personal best throw of 131-10, ranking 10th all-time at NDSU.  She was third in the preliminaries after a throw of 116-6, but took the title with her best throw on her last attempt in the finals.

Junior Amy Jo Reuter won the 3,000 meters in 10:07.42.  Freshman Lauren Rice finished just behind her in 10:08.39.

In the 400 meter hurdles, senior Devon Wentz came in first in 1:02.96.

In her first career outdoor meet, freshman Toni Tollefson won the high jump with a mark of 5-7.

In the long jump, junior Whitney Carlson won the meet title after leaping 19-9 ½ on her second attempt. 

The Bison are back in action April 2-3 at the Duke Invitational.
