Zander in Third Place After Day One of Heptathlon at Florida State Relays

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - North Dakota State senior Heather Zander sits in third place in the heptathlon with 3,036 points after one day of action at the Florida State Relays.  Freshman Emily Stalpes is 12th with 2,143 points.

Zander finished second in the both the 100 meter hurdles and the 200 meters.  She posted a time of 14.20 in the 100 hurdles and ran a time of 25.49 in the 200.  Her high jump mark of 5 feet 1 inch was sixth and her shot put mark of 34-7 3/4 was good for fourth place.

Stalpes was 14th in the 100 hurdles in 19.38.  She tied for seventh in the high jump after clearing 4-11 3/4 and her shot put mark of 29-2 1/2 was eighth.  Stalpes was seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 27.32.

The heptathlon concludes Friday, March 26 with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
