NDSU Men Set to Compete at Duke Invitational

FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State men's track and field team will travel to Durham, N.C. for the Duke Invitational Friday, April 2 and Saturday, April 3.  On Friday, men's action begins at 11 a.m. Central with the hammer throw.  Running events will begin at 12:10 p.m. with the 100 meters.  On Saturday, the men's shot put starts at 9 a.m. Central and track events kick off with the men's 800, also at 9 a.m.

 

Rud named athlete of the week after winning decathlon

Junior Ted Rud earned Summit League men's outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors after claiming the decathlon title at the Florida State Relays.  Rud tallied a personal best 7,261 points in the event.  He is only the sixth Bison to crack the 7,000 point barrier and is fourth on the NDSU all-time performance charts.  He took top spot in the long jump, shot put, discus and 1,500 meters. Rud is currently ranked second in the country in the event.  Sophomore Weston Leutz also reached the 7,000 point mark, finishing second at the FSU Relays with 7,190 points to rank fifth all-time at NDSU.

 

Four Bison in top 30

Four members of the Bison men's track team are in the top 30 of their respective events according to the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS).  Junior Ted Rud is second in the decathlon, while sophomore Weston Leutz is right behind him in third.  Junior Eric Stroh is 26th in the 800 meters, while sophomore Travis Fitzke is 28th in the 3,000 meters.

 

Stroh named Summit League athlete of the week

Junior Eric Stroh was named the league athlete of the week after running a personal best of 1:51.13 in the 800 meters at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.  Stroh's time is seventh all time at NDSU and currently leads the Summit League.

 

Geditz wins high jump at Baldy Castillo Invitational

Sophomore Jeramy Geditz led the North Dakota State men's track and field team at the Baldy Castillo Invitational on March 20 by winning the high jump title with a personal best mark of 6-8 ¼.  Overall, the Bison tallied nine top six finishes in the first outdoor meet of the year.  In the 800 meters, junior Eric Stroh finished fourth in a personal best time of 1:51.13.  His time is ranked seventh on the NDSU all-time performance charts.
