Tollefson Breaks School High Jump Record at Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. ? North Dakota State freshman Toni Tollefson set a school record en route to winning in the high jump at the Duke Invitational on Saturday, April 3.  Tollefson cleared 5 feet 11 ½ inches, breaking a 22-year-old school record.  The previous school record was 5-9 ¾ set by Lora Schloss in 1988.

In the seeded 800 meters, junior Christine Bruins finished fourth to lead four Bison athletes.  Bruins' time of 2:08.35 is ranked fifth all-time at NDSU.

Junior Amy Jo Reuter placed sixth in the steeplechase in a personal best time of 11:00.31, ranking fourth on the NDSU all-time performance charts.

In the seeded 100 meter hurdles, seniors Devon Wentz and Heather Zander both advanced to the finals.  Zander placed fourth in 14.13 and Wentz was seventh in 14.35.

Freshman Ashley Tingelstad was sixth in the seeded 400 meters in 57.20.  Junior Emily Black finished eighth in a time of 57.62.  Tingelstad also advanced to the 100 meter final after posting a preliminary time of 12.31, but she did not compete in the final.

The 4x100 relay team of junior Jennifer Nagberi, sophomore Brittany Page, sophomore Kristen Killoran and senior Brittni Bruenjes finished third in 47.82.

Bruenjes also placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 18-11 ¼. Killoran was just behind her in sixth with a leap of 18-10.

NDSU had two relay teams compete in the 4x400 relay.  The team of Zander, Page, Black and senior Amy Bestland was fourth in 3:49.47.  Wentz, Tingelstad, junior Brittany Gigstead and Bruins placed seventh in 3:54.91.

The team returns to Fargo to host the Bison Invitational April 9-10 at the Ellig Sports Complex.
