Men's Track and Field to Host Bison Open This Weekend

FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State men's track and field team will host the Bison Open Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10 at the Schlanser Track at the Ellig Sports Complex.  The decathlon begins at 1:30 p.m. Friday and the hammer will also take place Friday afternoon.  On Saturday, the decathlon will conclude at 9:45 a.m.  Field events begin at 12 p.m. and running events start at 2:30 p.m.  Admission to the meet is free.

 

Jackson wins 200 to lead Bison at Duke Invitational

Sophomore Kevin Jackson won the 200 meter developmental race at the Duke Invitational in a time of 21.59, which is tied for 10th all-time at NDSU.  Overall, the Bison posted 13 top eight finishes at the meet and had three athletes crack the all-time top ten.  In the seeded hammer throw, junior Logan Hollenkamp placed sixth with a personal best throw of 181 feet.  His mark is fourth all-time at NDSU.  Redshirt freshman Casey Orgon's throw of 167-4 was good for 11th place and eighth on the NDSU all-time performance charts.

 

Bison lead league in seven events

Junior Ted Rud and sophomore Kevin Jackson each lead the Summit League in two events.  Overall, NDSU holds the top spot in seven of the 21 events.  Rud leads both the long jump (23-8) and the decathlon (7,261).  Jackson is first in the league in the 100 meters (10.71) and the 200 meters (21.59).  Junior Eric Stroh leads the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.13, while sophomore Weston Leutz holds top spot in the 110 hurdles (14.46).  Junior Logan Hollenkamp leads the hammer with a mark of 181-0.

 

Rud, Leutz in national top 10

Junior Ted Rud is No. 8 and sophomore Weston Leutz is No. 9 nationally in the decathlon according to the Track and Field Results Reporting System.  Rud scored 7,261 points at the Florida State Relays and Leutz tallied 7,190 points at the same event.
