AZUSA, Calif. - North Dakota State sophomore Weston Leutz finished fifth in the decathlon at the Mt. SAC Combined Events with a personal best score of 7,290 points. His score is ranked fourth all-time at NDSU.
Leutz posted top six finishes in five of the ten events. He was third in the 100 meters in 10.93 and fourth in the long jump with a mark of 22-10. Leutz tied for second in the high jump clearing 6-6 1/4 and was sixth in the 400 in 50.80. He placed second in the 110 hurdles with a personal best time of 14.21.
Junior Ted Rud was 12th in the decathlon with 6,083 points. His best finish was tying Leutz for second in the high jump with a mark of 6-6 1/4.
Freshman Andy Lillejord was fourth in the Cal Invitational decathlon with 6,323 points. He was second in the pole vault after clearing 14-9 and second in the 400 meters with a time of 50.53.
The Bison will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays Friday and Saturday. Some athletes will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational Friday and the Beach Invitational Saturday.
