ELMHURST, Ill. - North Dakota State junior Whitney Carlson picked up her second Summit League athlete of the week award after winning the long jump with a school record mark at the Drake Relays.

Carlson's mark of 21 feet 1 1/2 inches broke the school record she set in 2009 by a quarter inch.  She is only the third Bison ever to win an individual event at the prestigious Drake Relays.  Her mark leads the Summit League and is tied for fourth in the nation.

The Buchanan, N.D. native also posted a league-leading time of 1:00.02 in the 400 meter hurdles at the meet.

Carlson and the Bison will compete at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls, S.D. April 30-May 1.
