Bison Women Claim Five Event Titles at Howard Wood Dakota Relays

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - North Dakota State juniors Amy Jo Reuter and Christine Bruins won their respective events and moved up the school's all-time top ten list to lead the team at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays on Friday, April 30.

Reuter won the steeplechase in a personal best time of 10:53.19 and set a new Dakota Relays record.  The previous record was 10:54.54 set in 2009. Reuter also maintained her spot as fourth all-time.  Bruins took first in the 800 meters in 2:07.42, which is also fourth all-time.

The Bison also won titles in three other events on the first day of action.  Freshman Ashley Tingelstad came in first in the 400 meter feature race, winning the event in 55.58.  The feature race showcased the top eight runners in the 400 meter field.

Sophomore Leslie Brost claimed the pole vault crown with a mark of 13 feet.  Senior Sammantha Kouba was third after clearing 11-6.

 In the 200 meters, junior Whitney Carlson was first in 24.55.  She led a group of four Bison that finished in the top six.  Senior Heather Zander also made the top three, placing third in 24.86.

Junior Brittany Gigstead finished third in the 800 meters in a time of 2:08.62.

The Bison continue action at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays on Saturday, May 1.
