ELMHURST, Ill. - North Dakota State junior Christine Bruins was named the Summit League Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week after winning the 800 meters at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays over the weekend.

Bruins posted a personal best time of 2:07.42 en route to winning the 800.  The Watford City, N.D. native leads the Summit League in the event and is ranked 39th in the country.  Her mark is fourth on the NDSU all-time performance charts.

This is her first athlete of the week award.  The Bison have claimed six of the seven weekly outdoor awards this season.

NDSU is back in action at the Summit League Championships May 13-15 in Toledo, Ohio.
