Women's Cross Country Set to Host NDSU Open Friday

FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State women's cross country team will host the five-kilometer NDSU Open on Friday, Sept. 3 at 5 p.m.  The race will held at Rose Creek Golf Course.  The Bison wil be competing against Concordia Moorhead in the only home meet of the season.

Nine athletes return from last year's Summit League runner-up squad.  Amy Jo Reuter leads a strong senior class after coming in as the top Bison finisher in all five regular season races a year ago.  Fellow seniors Brittany Gigstead, Christine Bruins and Marissa Dahlquist will also be major contributers.  There are six freshmen on the roster, including Maddie McClellan, the 2009 Minnesota class A state champion and Heidi Peterson, a four-time Minnesota state qualifier.

The Bison will compete in six meets this fall.  After Friday's home meet, the squad will travel to the Oz Memorial Run in Falcon Heights, Minn. on Sept. 10.  NDSU will also run in the adidas Wisconsin Invitational Oct. 2 and the Tori Neubauer Invitaitonal Oct. 16.  The Summit League Championships will be held Oct. 30 in Carmel, Ind.  Bradley University will host the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 13.
