Fitzke Leads Bison to Fourth Place Finish at Jim Drews Invitational

WEST SALEM, Wis. ? North Dakota State junior Travis Fitzke placed 10th in the eight-kilometer Jim Drews Invitational to lead the team to a fourth place finish.  The Bison amassed 115 points and Minnesota won the event with 33 points.

Four Bison athletes placed in the top 30 out of 488 runners. Fitzke covered the course in 25:06.3.  Junior Jake Henderson finished just over a second behind Fitzke in 13th with a time of 25:07.8.  Junior Tyler Leverington was 21st after posting a time of 25:19.8 and redshirt freshman Alec Espeland came in 23rd in 25:22.0.

Freshman Marty Joyce finished the race in 25:57.2, good for 59th place.  Junior Andy Fillmore was 68th in 26:02.2. Sophomore Dan Merritt placed 71st in 26:04.1.

Redshirt freshman Moses Heppner was 106th in 26:30.9 and junior Andy Wendroth placed 160th with a time of 27:06.8.  Junior Justin Schrepel and senior Tom Wagner rounded out the Bison contingent, finishing 182nd and 202nd, respectively.

 

The Bison now have a week off before the Summit League Championships Presented by American Airlines in Carmel, Ind. Saturday, Oct. 30.
