ELMHURST, Ill. - North Dakota State senior Whitney Carlson earned her fifth career Summit League indoor women's track and field athlete of the week honor after winning the pentathlon at the Holiday Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Carlson broke her own school and Bison Sports Arena record in the pentathlon with 3,954 points. The Buchanan, N.D. native broke her previous record of 3,810 points set last season at the Bison Open.  Carlson won four of the five pentathlon events, including the long jump with a nation-leading mark of 20 feet 4 1/2 inches.  She also has the top pentathlon score in the country.
