Men's Track and Field Heads to Minnesota

FARGO, N.D. ? The North Dakota State men's track and field team will compete in the Jack Johnson Classic at the University of Minnesota on Friday, Jan. 21 and Saturday, Jan. 22.  The heptathlon begins Friday at 3 p.m. and continues Saturday at 10 a.m. Field events start at 10 a.m. Saturday and running events begin at 11:30 a.m.

 

NDSU win five events at Bison Classic

Junior Travis Fitzke won the 1,000 meters in 2:28.78 to lead the team at the Bison Classic on Jan. 15. His time is ninth on the NDSU all-time performance charts.  Freshman Donté Smart claimed the 60 meter title in 6.94, which is 10th on the all-time charts. Matt Tetzlaff won his second straight 60 meter hurdles title and Moses Heppner led the way in the 800 meters.  The Bison also won the 4x400 relay.

 

Lillejord paces Bison at Holiday Invitational

At the Holiday Invitational on Dec. 4, redshirt freshman Andy Lillejord won the heptathlon with 5,254 points ranking fourth all-time at NDSU.  He is also third in the nation in the event. Ryan Jenson's 4,599 points is seventh all-time at NDSU.  Two Bison also cracked the all-time top 10 in the 300 meters.  Doug Scott's time of 34.47 is third and Lee Dhein's time of 35.18 is sixth.  Matt Tetzlaff took first in the 60 meter hurdles, while Kevin Jackson won the 60 meters.  Andrew Balzer led a first through fifth sweep for the Bison in the 600 meters.

 

NDSU men tabbed to win fourth straight league title

The North Dakota State men's track and field team was unanimously selected as the 2010-11 Summit League indoor preseason favorite in vote of all seven of the league's head coaches.  NDSU topped the poll with all six possible first place votes and 36 points.  Southern Utah was second with 28 points and South Dakota State was third with 25 points.  Oral Roberts was tabbed to finish fourth. UMKC, Western Illinois and Oakland rounded out the poll.

 

NDSU to host Summit League Championships

For the second year in a row, the Bison Sports Arena will be the home of the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships.  The league meet is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 27 and Monday, Feb. 28.

 

Larson returns for 32nd year

NDSU head men's track and field coach Don Larson is back for his 32nd season with the program.  He has led the Bison to three Summit League indoor titles and two league outdoor titles.  Larson has earned both league and outdoor indoor coach of the year honors twice.
