Bison Women Travel to Jack Johnson Classic

FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State women's track and field team will head to Minneapolis, Minn. to compete at the Jack Johnson Classic on Friday, Jan. 21 and Saturday, Jan. 22. The pentathlon will be held Friday beginning at 3 p.m. at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.  Field events begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and running events start at 11:30 a.m.

 

NDSU wins nine events at Bison Classic

Redshirt freshman Antoinette Goodman won the 60 meters and 200 meters and senior Whitney Carlson won the 60 meter hurdles and the long jump to lead NDSU at the Bison Classic on Jan. 15. Amy Jo Thorne led a 1-2-3 Bison finish in the 800 meters, while Brittany Schanandore took first in the 1,000 meters.  The 4x400 relay also placed first.  In the field events, freshman Katie Dockter won the triple jump and sophomore Toni Tollefson claimed the high jump title.

 

Carlson named Summit League athlete of the week

Senior Whitney Carlson was named Summit League athlete of the week on Dec. 7 for her winning performance in the pentathlon at the Holiday Invitational. Carlson set a new school record in the pentathlon at the Holiday Invitational on Dec. 4.  Her score of 3,954 points eclipses the record of 3,810 points she set last season.  She currently leads the nation in the event.  Carlson also holds the No. 1 spot in the country in the long jump with a mark of 20-4 1/2.

 

Carlson leads Bison at Holiday Invitational

Whitney Carlson's school record in the pentathlon led a day of top ten marks for the Bison women at the season-opening Holiday Invitational on Dec. 4.  Junior Kristen Killoran finished second in her first pentathlon and her score of 3,602 points is ranked fourth on the NDSU career charts. Redshirt freshman Antoinette Goodman made waves in her first meet as her time of 7.74 in the 60 meters is seventh all-time and her winning 200 meters time of 25.11 is eighth all-time.  Senior Jennifer Nagberi also moved up to fifth in the top 10 in the 60 meters with a time of 7.73.

 

NDSU tabbed to win Summit title

The North Dakota State women's track and field team was picked to win their fourth straight Summit League title in a vote of the league's head coaches.  The Bison led the voting with all seven possible first place votes and 49 points.  Southern Utah was picked to finished second with 38 points and South Dakota State and Oral Roberts were third (37) and fourth (36), respectively.

 

NDSU to host Summit League Championships

For the second year in a row, the Bison Sports Arena will be the home of the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships.  The league meet is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 27 and Monday, Feb. 28.

 

Godfrey back for 12th season

Head coach Ryun Godfrey returns to the helm of the Bison women's track and field program for the 12th season.  Godfrey has led the Bison to six straight Summit League titles; the team has won every league title since joining in the 2007-08 school year.  Godfrey has also earned league indoor coach of the year honors three times and outdoor coach of the year honors three times.
