Tetzlaff, Fitzke Break Into All-Time Top 10 at Jack Johnson Classic

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. ? Sophomore Matt Tetzlaff and junior Travis Fitzke both cracked the North Dakota State men's track and field all-time performance charts at the Jack Johnson Classic on Saturday, Jan. 22.

 

Tetzlaff shaved six-hundredths of a second off his previous best time to finish third in the 60 meter hurdles in 7.99.  He is ranked sixth in the event in NDSU history.  Tetzlaff's time, along with those of the top two finishers, broke the meet record of 8.06 set by David Aristil of South Florida in 2010.

 

In the mile run, Fitzke placed third in 4:10.47.  His time is eighth all-time at NDSU. Junior Tyler Leverington also posted a top six finish in the mile, taking fifth in 4:12.30.

 

In the unseeded weight throw, redshirt freshman Blake Elsen took second with a toss of 50-8 ¾.  The 4x400 relay team finished fourth in 3:19.77.

 

Moses Heppner placed sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.07.  In the pole vault, Jesse Morrow finished sixth with a mark of 16-1 ¼, half an inch off his personal best.

 

NDSU hits the road again next weekend for the Bill Bergan Invitational in Ames, Iowa.
