Five Bison Reach All-Time Top 10 at Bill Bergan Invitational

AMES, Iowa ? The North Dakota State men's track and field team had five athletes break into the school's all-time top 10 performance charts at the Bill Bergan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 29.  Matt Tetzlaff was NDSU's only event winner, claiming first in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.05.  The Bison tied for third with Missouri with 54 points each.  No. 15 Minnesota was first with 180 points.

 

In the 200 meters, Kevin Jackson finished third in a personal best time of 21.81, cracking the 22 second barrier for the first time.  His time ranks fifth on the NDSU all-time performance charts.

 

Jason Duchscherer also notched a personal best time of 48.59 in the 400 meters to place fourth.  His time is seventh in NDSU history.  Moses Heppner's time of 1:52.54 in the 800 meters is 10th all-time at NDSU and earned him sixth place.

 

For the third straight week, Travis Fitzke cracked the all-time top 10 in a new event.  His time of 8:22.29 in the 3,000 meters is sixth all-time and good for sixth place.  He has also reached top 10 marks in the 1,000 meters and the mile this season.

 

In the weight throw, Casey Orgon finished sixth with a personal best mark of 57-5.  His throw ranks fifth in NDSU history.  Alec Espeland took third in the mile with a time of 4:11.43.

 

NDSU returns to Fargo to host the Bison Open Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Bison Sports Arena.
