Bison Men Smash School Distance Medley Relay Record

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The North Dakota State men shattered the school record in the distance medley relay Friday, March 4, running a time of 9:43.58 at the Alex Wilson Invitational, a last chance meet to reach NCAA automatic qualifying standards hosted by Notre Dame.

The relay team of sophomore Moses Heppner, junior Kevin Jackson, senior Eric Stroh and junior Travis Fitzke dropped 20 seconds off the previous school record time of 10:02.22 set by Stroh, Jayce Miller, Fitzke and Heppner at last year's Summit League Championships.  They placed 14th overall and fell short of the NCAA qualifying time of 9:32.00.

The Bison men will have five individuals in action on Saturday trying to reach NCAA qualification.  Stroh and Heppner will be joined by Alec Espeland to run the 800 meters, while Fitzke will run the mile and Jackson will compete in the 400 meters.  Senior high jumper Jeramy Geditz will compete at Iowa State.
