Stroh Sets School Record in 800 Meters at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - North Dakota State senior Eric Stroh became the first Bison to break the 1 minute 50 second barrier in the 800 meters as he set a new school record of 1:49.90 at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday, March 5.  Stroh broke Heith Janke's 1998 record of 1:50.21 and is the second Bison to set an individual school record this season.  Stroh finished ninth in the event and his new record time is ranked 49th in the country.

Redshirt freshman Alec Espeland also cracked the NDSU all-time top 10 in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.42.  His time is seventh in school history.  In the 400 meters, junior Kevin Jackson finished 13th in 48.53, which ranks seventh all-time at NDSU.

Junior Travis Fitzke posted a time of 4:11.53 in the mile to place 22nd.  At Iowa State, senior Jeramy Geditz cleared 6 feet 9 inches in the high jump.

The field for the NCAA Championships will be announced Monday, March 7.  The NCAA Championships will be held March 11-12 in College Station, Texas.
