Rud Places 12th in Decathlon at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas ? North Dakota State senior Ted Rud finished 12th in the decathlon with 6,998 points at the Texas Relays Thursday, April 7.

 

Rud opened competition with a 14th place finish in the 100 meters with a time of 11.21.  He took eighth in the long jump with a mark of 22 feet 9 inches.  The New York Mills, Minn. native tied for 13th in the shot put with a mark of 39-10 ¾.  He also tied for eighth in the high jump after clearing 6-1 ½ and was 10th in the 400 meters in 51.23.

 

On the second day of competition, he took 14th in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 15.66.  In the discus, Rud was 11th with a toss of 124-8.  He was 15th in the pole vault after clearing 14-1 ¼.  He posted a 19th place finish in the javelin with a mark of 146-3.  Rud posted his best finish of the day in the final event of the decathlon, coming in third in the 1,500 meters in 4:34.03.

 

Junior Weston Leutz also competed in the decathlon, but did not finish the competition.

 

The rest of the NDSU men's track and field team will compete at the Duke Invitational Friday and Saturday.
