NDSU Men Travel West for Mt. SAC Relays, Beach Invitational

FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State men's track and field team will head west to compete in the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. and the Beach Invitational in Norwalk, Calif.  The 53rd Annual Mt. SAC Relays will be held April 14-16 and the Beach Invitational is scheduled for April 15 and 16.  Live statistics and complete schedule of the Mt. SAC Relays will be available at mtsacrelays.com.

Smart paces Bison at Duke Invitational

Freshman Donte Smart won the 200 meters and took second in the 400 meters to lead the NDSU men at the Duke Invitational April 8-9.  He ran a time of 22.09 in the 200 and came in at 47.76 in the 400, which ranks eighth all-time at NDSU.  He was one of four Bison to  crack the school's all-time top 10.  In the 400 meter hurdles, Kevin Jackson's time of 52.41 is fourth all-time.  Matt Tetzlaff ran a time of 14.34 in the 110 meter hurdles, which is fifth on the school's performance charts.  Andrew Fillmore finished 11th in the steeplechase in a time of 9:21.50 to move into 10th on the all-time list.

 

Rud 12th in Decathlon at Texas Relays

Senior Ted Rud scored 6,998 points to finish 12th in the decathlon at the 84th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays April 7.    He posted his best finish of the competition in the 1,500 meters, coming in third in 4:34.03.  He was eighth in the long jump and tied for eighth in the high jump.

 

NDSU leads five events in Summit League

NDSU tops the Summit League standings in four individual events as well as the 4x100 relay.  Sophomore Kevin Jackson is first in the 100 meters with a time of 10.71, while senior Eric Stroh holds the top spot in the 800 meters with a time of 1:49.96.  Sophomore Matt Tetzlaff is first in the 110 hurdles in 14.34 and senior Ted Rud leads the heptathlon with 6,998 points.

 

Stroh, Rud nationally ranked

Two members of the team are ranked in the top 50 in their respective events in the official Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS).  Senior Ted Rud is ranked 19th in the nation in the decathlon with 6,998 points.  Fellow senior Eric Stroh is 31st in the 800 meters with a time of 1:49.96.
