Bison Men Set School Record in Sprint Medley at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa ? The North Dakota State men's sprint medley relay team set a new school record at the Drake Relays on Saturday, April 30, breaking a 24-year-old record.

 

The relay team of freshman Donte Smart, sophomore Kevin Jackson, junior Jason Duchscherer and senior Eric Stroh took third in 3 minutes 18.98 seconds.  They broke the previous school record of 3:24.38 set in 1987 by Jason Crocker, Jerry Bosches, Kraig Kiefsaas and Todd Ericksrud.  Smart and Jackson ran the 200 meter legs, Duchscherer ran the 400 meters and Stroh closed out with the 800 meters. 

 

The 110-meter shuttle hurdle relay team of sophomore Matt Tetzlaff, senior Cody Gronvold, Jackson and senior Ted Rud finished sixth in the preliminaries in 1:01.22.

 

In the 800 meters, senior Eric Stroh posted a time of 1:49.96 to take fourth place.  Senior Jeramy Geditz tied for fifth in the high jump, tying his best mark with a leap of 6 feet 10 ¾ inches.

 

The men's team will now host the NDSU vs. UND dual on Friday, May 6.  It will be the team's final competition before The Summit League Championships.
