Bison Men to Send Five Athletes to NCAA West Preliminary Round

FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State men's track and field team will send five student-athletes to the NCAA West Preliminary Round May 26-28 in Eugene, Ore.  In both the East and West regions, the top 48 athletes in each event made the preliminary round and the top 12 will advance to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Bison had two members of the team qualify in the hammer throw - sophomore Casey Orgon and senior Logan Hollenkamp.  Orgon's school record mark of 193 feet 6 inches is 42nd in the region and Hollenkamp's mark of 191-1 is 45th.  This will be Hollenkamp's second trip to the preliminary round.  He finished 40th in the opening round of competition last year.

Senior Eric Stroh qualified in the 800 meters with a time of 1 minute 49.65 seconds ranking 33th in the region.  Sophomore Matt Tetzlaff will run the 110 meter hurdles after posting a best time of 14.22, which sits 33rd in the field.  Senior Jeramy Geditz also qualified in the high jump with a mark of 6-11, which is 34th in the region.

7:05 p.m. ? 800 meters quarterfinal (Stroh if qualifies)

Saturday, May 28

4:20 p.m. ? 110 hurdles quarterfinal (Tetzlaff if qualifies)
