Tetzlaff Sets School Record in 110 Meter Hurdles, Advances to NCAA Quarterfinals

EUGENE, Ore. - Sophomore Matt Tetzlaff set a new North Dakota State record of 13.99 seconds and advanced to the quarterfinals in the 110 meter hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminary Round on Friday, May 27.

Tetzlaff's time breaks Luke Pfeifer's 11-year-old record of 14.00.  Tetzlaff finished fourth in his first round heat and 13th overall.  The top three athletes in each heat as well as the next six fastest runners moved into Saturday's quarterfinal, which is set to take place at 4:20 p.m. Central.

Senior Jeramy Geditz finished 17th in the high jump after clearing 6 feet 9 inches.  The top 12 finishers advanced to the NCAA Championships.  In the 800 meter quarterfinal, senior Eric Stroh fell after some jostling for position and did not finish the race. 

In the hammer throw, senior Logan Hollenkamp placed 40th with a mark of 179-1.  His best throw came on his third attempt.  Sophomore Casey Orgon finished 44th with a toss of 171-9 with his best mark coming on his initial attempt.
