The 2026 outdoor season is underway in North Dakota, and the early results have given us plenty to talk about.
From the sprints to the throws, this group has wasted no time making a name for themselves early in the season.
Here's a look at ten of the top performers in the state through the early weeks of the season!
James Pallotta (Magic City Campus, 2027):
A 10.74 in the 100m at the Minot Invite leads all boys in the state, and his 22.40 in the 200m at the same meet backs it up as one of the top short sprint profiles in North Dakota this season.
Addison Schepp (Beulah/Hazen, 2027):
Schepp leads the state in the 100mH at 15.64 and the long jump at 17-8, while also ranking second in the 300mH at 48.19 and third in the triple jump at 35-3, with marks spread across multiple meets this season. Four events, four top-three marks.
Blake Weller (Dickinson, 2026):
A 21.89 in the 200m at the Dickinson Coca-Cola Invitational and 49.55 in the 400m at the Sidney Early Bird lead all boys in the state, giving Weller one of the more complete sprint profiles through the early weeks of the season.
Cambree Moss (Williston, 2027):
Moss leads the state in the 1600m at 5:13.16 from the Northeast A Quadrangular and also sits in the top ten in the 800m at 2:23.04 and the 3200m at 11:54.67, with marks across three distance events this season.
Luca Rout (Davies, 2028):
Rout has posted a 4:19.00 in the 1600m and 9:29.39 in the 3200m, both at the Rosemount Quad, while also running 1:58.81 in the 800m at the Fargo Metro Meet. No boy in the state has matched that range across all three distance events this season.
Ryen Brothers (Legacy, 2026):
Brothers leads the state in the discus at 135-7 and is tied for first in the shot put at 40-7, both posted at the Minot Invite, the strongest throws profile among all girls in the state so far.
Alexander Meece (Davies, 2026):
Meece sits atop the state in the shot put at 55-3.50 and the discus at 180-5, both at the Rosemount Quad, and no other boy in North Dakota is close in either event.
Christiana Sampson (Sheyenne, 2029):
Third in the 100m at 12.62 at the Minot Invite and second in the 200m at 26.05 at the same meet, Sampson is the top freshman sprinter in the state through this point in the season.
Derek Martel (St. Mary's Central, 2027):
The 300mH lead belongs to Martel at 41.04 from the Shannon Gangl Invitational, and his 14.91 in the 110mH at the same meet puts him near the top there as well, making him the top hurdler in the state across both events.
